Stop waiting for what’s next instead focus on the now. Life gets busy and it seems like I am always waiting for the next thing. I can’t wait to go to the gym, I can’t wait for the weekend, I can’t wait for fall. I have all these can’t waits in my mind. Instead I should shift my focus to the now moments.
What Are You Waiting For?
I may be young but I have waited for multiple big things in my life. The biggest thing (so far) I have waited for was to move away from home. As most of you know I did that. I packed my car and moved out to Estes Park for a little while. I waited so long for this move but now, I am only a month away from moving back home. When I realized that I spent my time waiting for the next thing instead of focusing on the now moments I decided it was time to change my perspective.
Take a moment and focus on what you are waiting for? Maybe it’s buying a home, starting a family, applying for a new job, or waiting for payday? Possibly a small thing or it might be a big thing.
What are you waiting for?
Once you realize what you are waiting for ask yourself “How can I focus on the now?”
How To Focus On The Now
Spending time outside is how I started to focus on the now. In early elementary school we learned about the five senses. Sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch, in case anyone forgot. Five minutes of sitting outside and focusing on what I could see, smell, hear, taste and touch helped me realize what was happening in the now.
Everyone will have their own ways of focusing on the now. Reading a book, drinking a coffee, journaling, walking there are multiple options. Keep trying new things until you find what works best for you.
I challenge you to take five minutes out of your day to focus on your now.
What Is Happening Now In Your Life?
Now in my life I see the aspens changing colors, I smell the vanilla coming from the ponderosas, I hear the leaves falling, I taste the caramel in my coffee, I touch the soft keys as I am typing. This is what is happening now in my life.
I don’t know exactly what is happening now in your life but, I do know you are reading this blog post. I pray you can focus on the now moments instead of constantly waiting for the next thing.
Once I started focusing on the now in my life I have an abundance of peace and patience in my life. When you start focusing on the now in your own life you too will also see changes in your life.
